Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan’s Delhi Kendra commemorated the 136th birth anniversary of Chakravarthi Ragopalachari, fondly known as Rajaji on 10th December 2014 behind South Block of Central Secretariat, Rajaji Marg.
Some of the dignitaries who had assembled to pay homage to one of the most illustrious son of India were, Mrs.Uma Vasudev,Vice-Chairperson ,Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan ,Delhi Kendra Km. Surrendar Saini,Chairperson, Bhavan;s Mehta Vidyalaya, , Shri Ashok Pradhan ,Director and Shri A.S.Awasthi ,Registrar Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Delhi Kendra, Shri Upender Kaushik, Manager, Mehta Vidyalaya, Principal Dr. AnjuTandon and Vice- Principal Smt. Vibha Kohli.
In her Welcome address, the Principal, Dr. Anju Tandon greeted the august gathering and spoke of the Bhavan as a pioneering institution which had started the unique tradition of paying a tribute to Rajaji.
Paying a rich tribute to Rajaji, Shri Ashok Pradhan said that the historical sketch of Rajaji gives an idea about his vision, his commitment to the nation and his commitment to the Principles of Mahatma Gandhi in which he lived a very simple life right from the beginning to the end.
In her tribute to Rajaji, Km.Surrendar Saini spoke of Rajaji’s contribution to preserve Indian heritage, his vital role in building the Bhavan’s and his work for the upliftment of the Harijans and the poor.
A brief life sketch of Rajaji’s dynamic personality was presented by Abu Bakr of class XI and Manvi Tripathi of class IX.
Rajaji Portrait was garlanded by all the dignitaries and offering of flower petals were made by the students.
The function come to the close with the vote of thanks proposed by Smt. Vibha Kohli and the singing of the National Anthem.
