About the Jawaharlal Nehru Academy of Languages: Established in 1958, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan’s Jawaharlal Nehru Academy of Languages in one of the oldest institutions in the Capital city offering continuously intensive courses in foreign language designed by the language experts, our highly qualified teachers help learners to build their confidence and achieve their goals in respective language speaking, listening, reading and writing skills to build their confidence and achieve their goals. The JN Academy of Languages has celebrated its Golden Jubilee, on 5th April, 2008 with Shri Shiv Shankar Menon, the then Foreign Secretary, Govt. of India, as Chief Guest. Qualified and experienced teachers coach students to acquire proficiency in the foreign languages from certificate to higher Diploma levels French Started in 1958 Japanese Started in 1958 Spanish Started in 1959 German Started in 1959 Arabic Started in 1962 Russian Started in 1993 Chinese Started in 2003 Portuguese Started in 2013 General English Advanced English and Creative Writing Admission: First come first serve basis (classes starts in January & August every year) Summer Courses: June and July (Admission in May) First semester (2 months) classes 4 days in a week: Intensive course of 1st Semester standard are conducted during summer (June-July) in CHINESE, FRENCH, JAPANESE & SPANISH. Students passing the examination in July can join the regular 2nd semester in starts in August. Eligibility: Senior Secondary school certificate examination (10+2) or equivalent Age: No bar Admission Procedure: Applications for admission are to be submitted along with a copy of Mark sheet or Certificate of intermediate with copy of Identity proof and residence proof. SCHEDULE OF FEES: Tuition Fee Including Service Tax (payable at the time of Admission)
FEE LIABLE TO BE REVISED EACH SEMESTER Fees once paid are not refundable. However. If the student has not attended any class, and has to withdraw due to compelling reasons the fee will be refunded after deducting administrative charges of 10% within one week from the commencement of the classes. Fees are to be deposited in the UCO Bank in the Bhavan’s premises. Timings: Weekdays 10.00 a.m to 4.00 p.m (Monday – Friday) and from 4, 00 p.m to 5.p.m in the Accounts Section (Monday – Friday).
Examination: January to May batch examination will be held in May and for August to December batch examination in December (mark sheet will be provided on completion of each semester. Test & Grades: The minimum pass marks in each semester of all languages will be 50% of the aggregate in periodical test, Viva Voce (also Grammar, Literature in case of advanced diploma) but 40% in the written examination is compulsory. Candidates securing 70% and above will be placed in the First Division. Those securing marks between 60% and 69% will be placed in the Second Division. Minimum 60% attendance is compulsory. Library: Bhavan has a reference Library; Facilities are provided to read the books and journals in the library itself. Refund of Fees: Fee once paid is not refundable. After the first week no refund of fees will be done however Director JNA on his discretion may consider after deduction of 25% within first one month. In any course/batch, if no viable number of students then full fee would be refundable. Discipline: All the students enrolled with the JN Academy of Languages will be subject to the general disciplinary its class teacher and the rules framed by the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan. Students are desired to adhere the protocol for airing any grievance, first to the class teacher, then to the Course Coordinator, then to the Director, JNA. The JN Academy has the power to strike off the name of student who is grossly irregular or short in attendance or when he/she is guilty of misbehavior or misconduct or indulging in activities of during tenure of studying here. The decision of the institute will be final and binding. Most Important: Applicants are advised/ supposed to read and understand the information given above.
